How Floorplate checks a date before it goes on the page
One afternoon, years ago, a tourism reprint gave Wrest Point's opening day as some time early in 1973, and a newspaper clipping from the same month gave it as 10 February 1973 — only one of those found its way onto this page. That habit, of asking a claim to prove itself twice before it is printed, is the whole method behind this notebook, and it has not changed since.
Two sources, minimum, in a fixed order
Every date, capacity figure and architect's name on this site has been checked against at least two independent sources before it is set down, and the sources are not treated as equal.

What this notebook leaves out
There was a decision made early, and it held: nothing here about tonight's offers, nothing on odds or staking, no judgement passed on a kitchen or on the people working a floor. The gaming room was only ever one room among many, and these pages were kept for what outlasts a season — the licence in its year, the steel in the roof, the name of the architect on the drawings. Sites that compare and recommend are built to be correct for one evening; this one was put together in the hope of being correct a decade on.
Corrections, dated in the open
Reader letters that flag a mistake — a year out by one, a surname mangled, a capacity at odds with the licence papers — go through the identical two-source test applied to every other sentence here. Where the reader proves right, the correction is made openly: the page changes, and a note carrying its date stays in the margin, because errors on this site are repaired in daylight rather than made to disappear.
A margin note is only useful if you can still see what it corrected.
Funded and written by one person
Floorplate carries no advertising from gaming operators and runs no affiliate links to any casino, agent or booking service, so nothing on this page benefits from a reader walking through a door tonight. It is funded and written by one person, working from newspaper archives, heritage listings and old company records, the way a hobby researcher keeps a notebook whether or not anyone else ever reads it. One room among many gets a page here; none of them gets a recommendation.
